Blues Started Rock And Roll!

Rock-n-Roll is based on blues and country music to some degree, but rock decdided to speed up blues with the advent and invention of the electric guitar. Leo Fender and Les Paul decided to take matter to a higher level.

Are you going to San Francisco? Be sure to wear flowers in your hair...I digress...This song should be on my oldie goldies page. hehe

The thrill is gone, baby, the thrill is gone...B.B. King

From what I understand, I believe that the roots of rock and roll come from the blues of the Afro-Americans back in the early 1900's. Elvis Presley and The Beatles helped as well, but it's the blues that started rock.

When you analyze rock chords compared to blues chords, you will find that rock progressions are just speeded up blues chords pretty much.

Allman Brothers allude to T-Bone Walker, Eric Clapton has his "Bell Bottom Blues", Allman Brothers have "Stormy Monday", Jimi Hendrix has "Red House", Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc.

I have always preferred rock, because the blues can get depressing. Country/western music has its cry in your beer songs, but I like the one by Randy Travis, "Two Dollars In The Juke Box".

More to come when I get more time...:-)
